Project Summary
To reduce the increasing number of people suffering from a mental disorder, I would like to create narration content on my website as a place to share people’s experiences. So from
sharing experiences, my target audience can learn from each other. This aims to let them know that they are not alone, they are valuable.
Not only sharing experiences but also as a platform to reflect on themselves from view and read someone’s stories. I would also plan to post inspiring quotes regularly to motivated my target audiences.
From their interest in reading, hope they feel motivated, become more open-minded, letting go of the past, learn, grow, and evolve from my website.
Target Audience
Teenage girl will be our target audience. With a specific age range of 13-19 years old and middle school to high school education background. The target audience would be someone who has social problems. Such as depression, bullying, academic problems, peer pressured, unsupported family, or friends.
Not only the audience’s demographic but also their personality.
According to AFC Guidance Centre (2020), when teenagers grows into adults, they are often experiencing some physical and mental changes. For instance, unpredictable emotional and also
social or relationship change in family or friends (Raising Children, 2019).
In addition, will be targeting teenagers who believe in Agnosticism (belief in God but not religion). Besides their cultural interests, the audiences also need to be active in social media especially on Instagram, and interested in reading blogs.

Semiotics and Visual
No matter in what context, I believe that first impression is really important. By creating an interesting, eye-catching, and engaging website, target audiences are willing to spend their time exploring our website. Especially my target audiences are teenagers, which not only make the website looks attractive, but also informative.
By applying design elements and design principles, it is help me a lot in creating creative website like the photo shown on the side, especially in organise website interface. I decided to used line and soft and bright colour on my website, to prevent boring interface due to my target audiences will be 13-19 years old teenager.
To make my website looks more organise, I am going to
apply symmetrical balance and hierarchy principles. This
is because there will be narration content on my website,
so hierarchy is really helpful for the readers before they
are into the story.
Colour
Fussell (2019) believes that calm colors bring relaxation and calmness. In consequences, Pastel color will be my first option for designing my website as it is supported my themes and my target audiences which is 13-19 years old teenagers. In addition, it is also because I am able to choose any color but still in calm colour tone. I will combine dark pastel colour and bright pastel colour into my website, because I wanted to focus not only girls, but also teenage boys.
Semiotics
To represent my poem’s themes which are related to reality and mental health, I would like to create an illustration character as my language symbol. The character will be a teenager girl with several facial emotions. It could be sad, happy, and worry face. Refer back to my target audiences, I plan to provide emotions character so that the readers able to understand and explore the story more deeply with the help of visuals.
It is a very boring interface if I only put characters on my website interface, So I would like to put “Tulip” flower illustration on it. According to Rebekah (2020), Tulip means hope, love, and opportunity, which are connected to my poem’s messages. Lastly, to make the audiences feel more motivated, I would like to put typography quote on the pages.
Fonts
As the website are required a lot of reading and my target audiences are comparatively young, I will choose Monospace Fonts as my website font. As it is stated below, Monospace Fonts are not a formal font yet it is a modern font
“Monospace” font itself is easy to read and the letter spacing is not too complex. I may also create a calligraphy font on my website to grab the reader’s attention on the narration.
Interactive Techniques
- Virtual Hugs Button
Readers are able to click “hugs” instead of “like” at the end of the sharing board session. This aims to make the storyteller feels supported and motivated.
- Buttons
I may combine my emotional characters (as refer to as my semiotics) with my buttons as well. Such as my character navigate the user to tap the next page or previous page of my website.
- Downloadable Quotes
I may put an inspirational, encouraging, motivational quote on my screen 5 body text, so my target audience able to self-reflect after reading the narration I provided.
- Sharing Board or Comment Section
On the sharing board, my audiences able to share their stories. How they started to feel hopeless, how they overcome it, and also some tips and tricks to recover. This board serves as a place where a person doesn’t alone because there are also other people who are struggling too.
